"A summer's trip based in Vagliagli near Siena introduced me to a landscape in which one can see vestiges of terraces going back to Roman times. A second trip was to Bogliasco, on the Mediterranean Sea near Genoa. I spent time on one painting of the town, overlooking the sea, and also with several other paintings, and I did a number of premier coup.
